Gear Review: Fatheadz Big Daddy Eyewear

Fatheadz in Canyonlands
I have a fat head. To give you an idea about how fat my head is I can sometimes squeeze my noggin into a 7-5/8 hat but prefer to wear a 7-3/4. Having a fat head can be a pain. When I shop for hats, sunglasses or anything that goes on my head I find that stores usually don’t stock it if it exists at all. When I need to shop for sunglasses it usually turns into a store-hopping marathon trying to find a pair that (a) fit me and (b) I like. Most sunglasses I try on are way too tight on the temple and the pressure they put on my face makes it uncomfortable to wear them for more than a short period of time and I usually develop a headache. This is where Fatheadz come in.

Gear Review: Beyond Coastal Sunscreen

Beyond Coastal Sunscreen

I spend lots of time outside which means I am exposure to the sun quite a bit. Spending a lot of time outdoors and having a really fair complexion (my friends refer to me as ‘Pasty White’) means I will end up with a nasty burn, age my skin prematurely and greatly increase my risk for skin cancer unless I protect myself. While the burn can cause a day or two of being comfortable, and aging is not reversible (come on scientists I want my twenties back), cancer can be fatal so putting on sunscreen has become my ritual before having fun outside.

Gear Review: Cocoons OveRx Sunwear

Cocoons with glasses
Wearing prescription glasses in the outdoors is not always great. Prescription glasses let sunlight in forcing me to squint and making my eyes uncomfortable by straining on a sunny day. Purchasing clip-on sunglasses certainly helps but sunlight still comes in from above, below and on the sides of the lenses so this really is not a solution for me. That is where Cocoons OveRx sunglasses from Live Eyewear comes in. Cocoons OverRx eyewear are sunglasses that are designed to fit over prescription glasses. They come with a neoprene storage case that floats, a cleaning rag and a limited lifetime warranty.

Gear Review: Chums Orbiter Eyewear Retainer

Chums Orbiter Eyewear Retainer
I dislike eyewear retainers, especially when they get wet and cling to my skin and neck. I was really pleased with Chums’ Orbiter, not only does it stay up off the neck but it is super ultralight.
