Gear Review: Clif Crunch Bars

Clif Bars have long been a staple in the outdoor industry.  As an avid fan I was excited to hear of them developing a new product called Clif Crunch Bars which are all-natural granola bars.  The bars hit markets this year in four introductory flavors of: Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter, Honey Oat and White Chocolate Macadamia.  Clif Crunch Bars are 70% organic, contain between 4-5 grams of protein and provide a good source of fiber and organic whole grains.

Each Clif Crunch actually comes with two bars per package and the two-bar serving provides 180-190 calories.  A box of five retails for around $3.50.  After trying them I believe that each flavor is appropriately named.  I don’t know why but I expected them to taste like a knock-off granola bar but was pleasantly surprised that Clif Crunch Bars have their own unique taste. Taste is certainly subjective but I liked all of them with White Chocolate Macadamia being my favorite flavor of Clif Crunch.

The bars definitely live up to their name and crunch when taking a bite out of them.  They are slightly brittle and I’ve already had a few break or chip in my pack prior to opening them.  This does not affect the taste however.  The Clif Crunch Bars are light in the stomach similar to their Mojo Bars (mmm...Mojo Bars...) which is great as I don’t like a heavy stomach when heavily exerting myself.

I believe Clif has another great tasting tool in their arsenal for keeping outdoor enthusiasts deliciously energized.
