Point6 Running Light 3/4 crew |
I have a hard time with socks, they either don’t stay up or they wear
out too fast. I love wool socks but not all wool socks are made the
same and I have put my fair share of holes in a number of wool socks.
Point6 has made durability a big point in their socks by solely using
compact spun Merino wool. These socks are designed to be durable yet
cushy on the feet.

Point6 cycling sock detail |
Point6 makes socks for a wide range of activities solely using
compact spun Merino wool. This compact spinning makes for a more
durable yet soft fiber, while still providing the great natural features
Merino wool is so well known for. The socks are designed to offer an
anatomically precise fit reducing the bulk. The toe, heel and high heel
areas of the sock are reinforced with nylon fiber to ensure maximum
strength while the toe seam is hand looped and practically invisible.
The knitting process incorporates ventilation panels on the instep as
well as added arch and ankle bracing for support.

The Running Light Mini that I got is a running sock perfect for road
or trail running as well as hiking. The sock features all the great
Point6 features contained in a 1 ¼” cuff length. The terry loop
cushioning inside the sock wicks away sweat keeping feet dry and
blister-free. While Point6 says this is an extra light cushion, the
cushion feels thicker than what I expected in an extra light cushion and
is quite nice. After using them in the desert southwest, I was pleased
that my feet were still quite dry even though the socks felt damp to
the touch. Most of the sand on my feet brushed off easily since my feet
were mostly dry, a little moisture had built up between my toes.

Running socks in desert southwest |
The desert southwest can be really hard on gear, especially when
being rubbed against rock and sand. I like to hike in sandals in hot
weather to keep my feet cool but I do accumulate sand inside my sandals
and even inside my socks. The Point6 socks held up nicely against the
sand and even the light cushion helped some with the pounding my feet
take on the slickrock. It was rather amusing to take off socks that
felt wet, pour out the sand and still be able to brush it off my dry
feet.

Cycling socks after a few days hard use |
The Cycling Ultra Light Mini is their extra thin cycling sock with no
cushion. Point6 has removed all unnecessary bulk and made a really
breathable light cycling sock. After using these both in spin class and
on the bike, the socks really do an excellent job with sweat management
as well as heat management. Out on the road with the wind, my feet
felt great. In neither case did I feel like my feet were sweating but
once I removed the socks, I discovered they were moist.

Barely any slouch after cycling |
The socks still look good in spite of the hard use they have seen.
There doesn’t seem to be any signs of wear other than a little ground in
dirt. The socks still hold themselves up and have not slouched down at
any point in wearing them. After wearing the socks on a three day
overnight backpacking trip, I can say the odor management properties of
the wool were definitely working.
Both the cycling and running socks have been great to wear while
running, hiking or cycling. They have great sweat management properties
as well as anti-odor properties. They do a great job at temperature
regulation and are just all around great durable socks.
